ACTIVITIES OF THE VÍAS ATLÁNTICAS PROJECT

The VÍAS ATLÁNTICAS project is to offer and promote a new cultural-tourist route aimed at strengthening the euro-region in which it is to be developed and focused on the exchange of experiences for the identification and valuation of the natural, archaeological, cultural and tourist heritage of the territories corresponding to the partners of the project. The implementation of the project is divided into the following stages and activities:

PHASE 2: Scientific

  • Study of the layout, determination and marking by towns to be carried out by the scientific partners.
  • Study of the land corresponding to the layout of the Via XIX and XX and specific determination for each of the local entities regarding their action sector, which shall correspond to the territorial partners advised by the scientific partners.
  • Inventory by the scientific partners of the artistic-cultural elements located next to the roads.
  • Scientific studies and publications prepared by the scientific partners.
  • Archaeological work carried out by the territorial partners in their area.
  • Cartography of the roads and camps and database.
  • Support in the preparation of school books.

PHASE 3: Promotional

  • Creation of a website for the project containing the proposed itinerary and its conversion into a genuine tourist-cultural route.
  • Documentation and content for tourist information.
  • Publication of leaflets, guides and other advertising media that include all the aspects of tourist interest from history to gastronomy.
  • Exhibition of the road network of Gallaecia.
  • Seminar on the Roman road network of Northern Hispania.
  • Educational kit or school books.
  • Advertising in the media.

PHASE 4: Cleaning and conservation

  • Cleaning of the roads of weeds and other sediments, proceeding in each case in accordance with the corresponding scientific advice to ensure the most appropriate environmental approach and respectful conservation of the layout.
  • Maintenance of the roads.
  • Signposting providing directions and information about the roads and archaeological remains.
  • Reproductions of milestones.
  • Establishment of information panels at the points of the greatest tourist interest.
